Choosing the right hardware can make your window treatments work smoothly, look great, and last for a long time trouble free. Listed below are some examples of drapery hardware with a brief explanation of each.

Traverse Rod

This is the basic drapery hardware solution for hanging draperies. The traverse rod is typically a center draw but can be made to be one way draw or stationary. This rod can be operated with or without cords. They can be straight or curved to fit your decor

Decorative Rod

Decorative rods are just that. They usually are made from wood, metal, or wrought iron and have a decorative “finial” at the ends. They generally do not traverse but serve as a “hanger” for fixed side panels or drapes and other window treatments. Drapes can hang from these type of rods by using a pocket to slide the rod into or a ring with a place to hook the drape onto. Sizes usually vary from 1/2″ to 3″ in diameter and the color selection is endless.

Decorative Traverse Rods

These rods are a combination of a traverse rod and a decorative. Made from wood, metal or wrought iron, they are not only decorative but will have a hidden traverse operating system to increase the ease of function. The color selections are endless and the choices of styles are numerous

Specialty Rods

There are also many types of specialty rods such as curtain rods, sash rods and continental rods. Many of these are made for sheer curtains that don’t require a bulky or heavy rod.A sheer for a door or a small valance for over a window would be good examples. These rods are usually adjustable and come in sizes to fit most windows. Many of these rods require a simple “pocket to be sewn into the curtain and than gathered onto the rod. They can also accommodate rings, grommets and other types of hanging devices. The rods can be round or flat, curved or straight. Continental rods are flat and come in a variety of heights depending on the look you want. Curtain rods can be single double or even triple if the need arises.
